Bulgaria ranks third in the world in attracted foreign direct investment in the outsourcing sector and first among European countries. The sectors of information and communication technologies, as well as outsourcing and business services are among the key drivers for creating new work places in the country. This shows data from the annual ranking of the Business Process Outsourcing and Shared Service Location Index 2015, which was presented at the forum by the Executive Director of the Bulgarian Investment Agency Stamen Yanev. In Bulgaria 364 companies are working in the outsourcing industry. Last year, employment in the sector were 42,000 people, and in 2020 their number is expected to reach 64,000 people. Revenues of companies in the outsourcing sector in our country are growing and already amount to 1.4 billion Euros, which is 3.4 percent of gross domestic product. Expectations are while maintaining good business environment, the turnover of the sector to double by 2020.
It is expected that in the next 3-4 years the number of people employed in the IT sector and outsourcing industry in Plovdiv will double. Currently 5,000 people in the city work in the companies from these sectors. The problem with staff is one of the topics that were discussed at the business forum. The focus of the company this year is looking to the future and the next steps in the development of the IT sector in Plovdiv. During the forum, the launch of a special program to train students in "Software Engineering" at Plovdiv University was officially announced. The program is entirely funded by the municipality. Under this program, for the first year, 20 Ukrainians of Bulgarian origin, and 10 Bulgarians were accepted at the University.
In the business forum, the most modern office park in the city was presented - Office Park Plovdiv, a project of Galaxy Investment Group, which just last month opened its doors and is the place where the investors with high requirements can rent a class A office. The building is specialized in the IT and outsourcing sector. Office Park Plovdiv attracts tenants due to its attractive location, in an area with newly constructed parks, streets and underground infrastructure. It is situated in the greenest part of the city next to the Mall of Plovdiv and Rowing Canal.
